City employees become eligible for benefits the first of the month following the date of hire for full-time and part-time regular positions.
* Group Health, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug, Dependent and Supplemental Life insurance and Long Term Care plans are offered to eligible employees as optional benefits.

* Term Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverages are provided by the City to eligible employees. Paid vacation and sick leave is provided on an accrual basis.
* Three retirement savings programs are available:
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) This retirement plan is mandatory and each pay period the City withholds 7% of an employee's salary (tax deferred) and deposits it into their account with TMRS. The account is matched 2:1 once the employee becomes vested in the System and is eligible to retire.
ICMA Retirement Corporation This is an optional retirement plan designed to supplement other retirement plans. It is a 457 or Deferred Compensation program and allows employees to elect their contributions and select investing options.
Nationwide Retirement Solutions This is also an optional retirement plan designed to supplement other retirement plans. It is a 457 or Deferred Compensation program and allows employees to elect their contributions and select investing options.
* Eleven paid holidays are provided per year.
* City employees and family members are eligible for membership with the Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union.
